Miniature to standard gauge steam! Explore some of the very best Midlands’ Heritage Railways. We feature a plethora of unusual workings with many photo opportunities of both passenger and freight rolling stock on our special trains. Highlights including storming up the Brocken  hauled by loco 99 5902, recreating the parallel departure from Alexisbad (no longer possible on scheduled service timetable), special two train return charter from Wernigerode to Eisfelder, with 1914 built Henschel 99 6101 (“Pfifi”) and a Brockenbahn 2-10-2T and a unique parallel steam photo departure at Eisfelder Talmühle. Celebrating 175 years of Germany’s long distance railway between Dresden and Leipzig, with a spectacular Steam Festival weekend in Dresden. Make the amazing journey from Dresden to Leipzig – and return – with steam locomotion, plus experience parallel running with two steam trains on the “Tharant incline”. Lots more steam action is promised in and around Dresden and Chemnitz, at what is set to be Germany’s major steam event of 2014.

May 2014 Tour (17 days)    Australia Big Steam Action    Fare TBA (circ. £3000)
This tour hopes to take in the one of the initial runs of the huge Garratt 4-8-4+4-8-4 being restored at Canberra – and include a visit to a May event to celebrate to celebrate 100 years of the roundhouse at Valley Heights in the scenic Blue Mountains, east of Sydney, where the resident two steam locos will be joined by visiting steam engines.  Other steam action on this exciting tour is likely to cover steam lines around Melbourne - the Victoria Goldfields Railway, Puffing Billy and Bellerine Peninsula Railway, along with lines around Sydney – the Illawarra, the huge New South Wales Railway Museum and steam line at Picton, and the Zig Zag line which should reopen by the time of our tour. In all we hope to feature 7 steam lines on FIVE different gauges and will have at least FOUR exclusive steam charters, plus enjoy sightseeing in Sydney, Melbourne trams, and take an XPT diesel train ride between Melbourne and Sydney.  Pre and post tour extensions will also be possible, such as riding the "Ghan", "Indian Pacific" or traveling to Brisbane.
