DAY 1
Travelling by train, we journey through the gentle landscape of Norfolk to arrive at Norwich and transfer to our hotel in the historic heart of this the most complete medieval city in Britain (D)
DAY 2
Come face to face with the magnificent machinery of war at the Muckleburgh Collection – from working tanks to its unique model ship collection. Enjoy the nostalgia of steam on the North Norfolk Railway, through delightful countryside to the resort of Sheringham. Our day concludes with a visit to striking Felbrigg Hall to explore the lavish Stuart and Georgian interiors, wonderful orangery and parkland. (B,D)
DAY 3
We travel the narrow gauge Bure Valley Railway from Aylsham to Wroxham ‘Capital of the Broads’ - perhaps the best known of all Norfolk’s delights. Here we take a cruise to marvel at the variety of wildlife and the unique Broadland scenery of windmills, reeds and pasture. After free time to wander Wroxham’s charming streets, we visit East Ruston Old Vicarage garden. (B,D)
DAY 4
A day at leisure to explore the intriguing streets and cobbled alleys of Norwich, with the Cathedral, Castle Museum and the Art Nouveau arcade all inviting your interest. We include an open-top bus city sightseeing rover ticket that gives both a recorded commentary whilst allowing you to hop on and off wherever you wish. (B,D)
DAY 5
It’s ‘All the Fun of the Fair’ at Thursford’s thrilling collection of old fashioned merry-go-rounds, showman’s organs and the mighty Wurlitzer cinema organ. Then remaining in yesteryear we continue to Gressenhall Farm & Workhouse a museum of Norfolk Life which weaves together a traditional farm, cottage and historic workhouse to tell a tale of how people used to live. (B,D)
DAY 6
Time to conclude our stay in delightful Norwich - another holiday memory to treasure on train journeys to your homeward destinations. (B)

Maids Head Hotel, Norwich
This charming 13th century hotel, in the heart of the Norwich opposite the famous Norman Cathedral, reputedly hosted Elizabeth I in 1587. Today the bedrooms are furnished in a modern but warm style, with en suite bath or shower facilities, satellite TV, trouser press, hair dryer and hospitality tray. The Maids Head bar is the oldest in this historic city, whilst the Courtyard Restaurant is also steeped in history and offers fine cuisine made with local produce. |
